Altair Custom Made Homage
Here's your chance to own an interesting reproduction of the iconic Hamilton Electric Altair. This watch was originally sold to a collector by René Rondeau many years ago and has now become available once more. It is made of a silver tone material and was plated for added brilliance. Some of the plating has begun to wear away, but it is still very presentable on the wrist. It was fitted with one of the Hamilton factory quartz conversion movements, because the case is not thick enough to house a conventional 505 movement. René said, that the dial was custom made as well, so there was a lot of time put into this project. This is definitely a "one of a kind."
The Altair is probably the most coveted of all the Hamilton Electrics among collectors. It had a very small production run of around 1600, so it is also very rare. The dramatic Arbib styling is not the principle reason for it's rarity. The detached lugs are prone to bending or breaking if one is not careful in how tightly they wear the watch. This makes surviving Altairs even more rare.
The Altair represents what makes these Hamilton Electric Watches so unique. It was far ahead of its time in styling and mechanics making it a must for a complete Hamilton Electric collection.
