Hamilton Electric Vantage 18K Rose Gold Original Silver Dial & 502 Movement
Offered is this FULLY SERVICED (ultrasonic wash, rinse, and lubrication) 18K Solid Rose Gold Hamilton Electric Vantage watch. Pictured in René Rondeau's book "The Watch Of The Future" on pages 162, it was released in October 1960. It is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown. It runs great and keeps time to well under 30 seconds variation per day, and has a brand new battery just installed. The hack function works properly, and the watch starts right up each time the crown is pushed in from the setting position to the running position.
The Vantage was originally offered in December of 1958, but the 18K Rose version was recorded as released in 1960 and only two examples have surfaced that were made in 18K Rose Gold for export. The other is shown at the bottom of page 162 of Rene's book. This example even has an engraving in Portuguese, confirming that it was exported. The 502 movement helps confirm this as well. The 502 marked the transition from the 500A to the 505, and 502 was to be the original name of the caliber. The 502 movement can be distinguished in the second movement photo by the lack of a half moon cutout in the battery hatch, and poising screws on the balance, as well as the 502 marked plate. Changes to the case and a stamped brass balance were added early in production, and the movement was renamed the 505. Unused stock of 502 movements were used in models destined for export. The balance in this watch has a NEW OLD STOCK 502 BALANCE, so it will run virtually as it did from the factory.
