Hamilton Electric Savitar II Watch Masonic Dial
Offered is this FULLY SERVICED (ultrasonic wash, rinse, and lubrication) Hamilton Electric Savitar II watch with factory Masonic Dial. Pictured in René Rondeau's book "The Watch Of The Future" on page 155, it was released November 1965 in with an original price of $125 with metal band and $110 with leather strap. It is signed on the dial, case, movement, and crown. It runs great and keeps time to well under 30 seconds variation per day. It has a brand new battery just installed. The hack function works properly, and the watch starts right up each time the crown is pushed in from the setting position to the running position. It has just had a NEW OLD STOCK D-PIN installed in the balance, so it will run virtually as it did from the factory.
The Savitar II is the cousin to the original Savitar. It is gold filled rather than solid gold like the Savitar and lacks the reeding around the crystal found on the Savitar. The Savitar II also has a one piece case with the movement coming out through the front of the case after the crystal is removed. René Rondeau states that "the bezel of the Savitar II originally had a brushed finish, but this is rarely seen today, as even light polishing will quickly remove it." The brushed bezel is present and very visible on this example, making this fine watch an even greater prize for the collector. There were only 8,800 of these watches produced, and this one also has the ORIGINAL Dial Finish with Hamilton factory produced Masonic Logo. The dedication dating the watch to 1965 matches the logo dial, having been presented to a Masonic member.
