Hamilton Electric Van Horn 14K Diamond Dial Watch
Offered is this FULLY SERVICED (ultrasonic wash, rinse, and lubrication) Hamilton Electric DIAMOND DIAL Van Horn watch. Pictured in René Rondeau's book "The Watch Of The Future" on pages 193-194, it was released in January of 1957 with an original price of $300.00. It is signed on the dial, case, crown, and movement. It runs great and keeps time to well under 30 seconds variation per day and has a brand new battery just installed. The hack function works properly, and the watch starts right up each time the crown is pushed in from the setting position to the running position.
The Van Horn was one of the original two watches introduced on January 3rd, 1957 when Hamilton announced to the world, the first battery powered watch. It was named for John Van Horn, the director of Research and Development for Hamilton, who spearheaded the electric watch project.
The diamond dial version of the Van Horn is very rare, and was priced at a very substantial $300.00 versus $175.00 for the standard dial. That is almost double the price!
